Interviewing Rtn. Deepak Bharadia
By Rtn. Krishna Kumar
I had the privilege of interviewing Rtn. Deepak Bharadia, who joined us in June 2025. Here is how it went…
Tell us briefly about your / your family origins.
My grandparents were from Gulbarga (now Kalaburagi) in Karnataka, and my father worked with National Insurance Company, which led to transfers to various cities, eventually leading to Baroda which was his last posting. Being Marwaris, my family’s origins are rooted in Rajasthan.
We are a family of six, with my wife hailing from Raichur, Karnataka., 2 married sisters, and 2 kids – a daughter pursuing her Bachelors in Product Design and a son studying in 8th standard. My wife – Veena is a homemaker., turning into entrepreneur, starting her business venture soon. My father is retired & my mother is also a homemaker. We come from a very humble, middle-class background, with dad’s history of government service all his life. Post my graduation, I worked in various jobs before joining the corporate world & working with Safepack Inds. for 8.5 years and then started my own business in 2006.
Deepak, you are associated with a number of NGOs as a volunteer, such as Mahesh Industrial Group, Rise before SUNrise, Ekal Sanstha, Art of living, Give, Ekta Sanstha, and now with Rotary. You have a thriving modular kitchen business. And of course, your physical training. How do you manage to balance your time for all these activities?
I’ve chosen to live a Holistic life wherein I’ve categorized my life into seven key areas:
I believe in living my life by balancing these aspects simultaneously, rather than focusing on one area at a time. By prioritizing and managing my time effectively, I’m able to allocate time for various activities, including:
My approach involves designing my life to incorporate all these aspects, ensuring a fulfilling and purposeful life. By setting boundaries and leveraging my work and systems, I’m able to make time for multiple pursuits which gives me immense satisfaction & a feeling of fulfilment.
Your journey from Safepack Industries to Meine Küche. How would you describe it?
I spent around 8.5 years at Safepack Industries, where I learned a lot and had opportunities to work in various functions under the guidance of my boss, Mr. Rajendra Tapadia. In the last 3.5 years at Safepack, I headed the international business, traveling extensively world-wide and working on customer acquisition, collaborations and joint ventures. However, my dream was to start my own business always. Having built Safepack to a respectable position, with my employer’s consultation and support, I transitioned to start my own business under the name ‘Meine Kuche’ about 18 years ago. Building Meine Kuche presented growth challenges, but I successfully established ourselves with a strong team, robust systems, and Products & services that enjoys delight of our customers. Today, our business is expanding with new verticals and in a New corporate identity of “Meine Bharat”, and we’re poised for exponential growth.
You are a product of Pune. What makes Pune special for you?
I’ve been living in Pune for nearly 30 years, starting from my graduation days at BMCC College. Pune has been an amazing experience for me, and I chose to make it as my Karmabhoomi (workplace). I love Pune’s weather, especially during monsoons and winters. Pune’s cosmopolitan nature, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant atmosphere attract me. The city’s youthful energy, driven by its educational institutions, makes it a happening place. I believe Pune has shaped me into what I am today.
Tell us a little about your family, and how do they fit in your pursuits?
I’m grateful for my beautiful and supportive family. As an outgoing, risk-taking, and adventurous person who creates his own paths, I’ve faced lots of resistance to my unconventional ways and being different from the majority. However, my family, especially my wife Veena & my mother, has been very supportive. They believe in living a holistic life too and have stood by me throughout my journey. I’m thankful for their understanding and encouragement, which has enabled me to pursue my passions and interests. My family’s support has been a significant factor in my personal and professional growth, and I’m blessed to have them by my side.
What are your expectations from RCPC? The club is in the process of discovering you as a person, and your potential. How do you think the two objectives should meet?
My objective in joining RCPC is to dedicate time to impactful service. I’m impressed by the club’s positive vibes and the good work it’s been doing. I want to utilize my strengths and interests to contribute to service areas, aligning with the club’s priorities set by President Lekha Nair. I’m looking forward to being part of the club and making meaningful contributions. By combining my skills and passions with RCPC’s objectives, I aim to make a positive impact. I believe that the club’s discovery of my potential and my contributions to the club’s goals can create a mutually beneficial relationship, fostering growth and service.
Tell us about one incident in your life that changed your perspective completely.
My involvement in the India Against Corruption movement & the Volunteer for Better India initiative between 2011-2014 was one of my life’s key turning point. Working with Anna Hazare ji and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji during that time shifted my focus towards a life of service. I realized that dedicating my life to uplifting humanity and contributing to the world’s betterment would give my life more meaning. My experiences not only changed my perspective but also led to meaningful connections, including getting my Spiritual guru: Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji in my life. Those three years were transformative, shaping my life’s purpose and direction and guiding my future endeavours and decisions.
One message that you have for all of us here at RCPC.
I sincerely appreciate the dedication of members in serving humanity and making meaningful contributions. I look forward to learning from them and contributing my skills and efforts to uplift humanity and serve the community. My goal is to support the club’s mission and help take it to the next level. I’m excited to be part of the Rotary community and contribute to its noble causes.
